How to make custom coloring pages for kids

The fastest route to a page a child genuinely wants to color is to begin with something specific: an animal, an adventure, a favorite toy, or an invented character.

1. Start with one vivid, simple idea

Invite your child to describe a scene in a short phrase: “a friendly whale in a submarine” is easier to turn into a coloring activity than a long list of unrelated ideas. For younger children, offer a choice of subject, place, and action: animal + setting + activity.

2. Make the idea into a page

Ask2Color’s App Store description says children can type or speak an idea to create a unique black-and-white sketch. The listing also references a camera feature for turning a favorite toy into a drawing. A parent can help with the words or camera when needed.

A useful prompt shape: “A [friendly subject] [doing an action] in a [simple place].” Example: “A happy dinosaur riding a bicycle in a park.”

3. Color together or independently

Once the outline is ready, use the coloring tools at the child’s comfort level. The listing specifically mentions pencil-style coloring, undo, and zoom support. Let the goal be expression, not getting every part “right.”

4. Print or share the finished page

The current App Store description says pages can be printed or shared. If you plan to print, first confirm that your iPhone or iPad can see a compatible printer. You can also save or share a finished creation with family, subject to the options available on your device.

Why a custom page can be more inviting

When the subject comes from a child’s own idea, the coloring page has a built-in story. It can be a quiet activity at home, a travel companion, or a starting point for a conversation. Keep prompts age-appropriate and use parent guidance as needed.

Ask2Color is one route to this workflow: it combines creation, coloring, and the print/share path in an iPhone and iPad app.
